Halcyon Days takes us on an exploration of the coastal landscape as seen through the eyes of contemporary painter Steve Salo. In this series of 12 works, drawn largely from memory, Steve recalls those places from which feelings of freedom, wonder and a deep sense of connection to the natural world are mixed with recollections of childhood riverside adventures and day trips down to the coast.
The paintings share a sense of continuity and connectedness to place. Steve reflects, “It is my hope that these works will provide moments of solace to patients, staff and visitors to the hospital and that they’ll reconnect to their own memories of being in places they love.”
